Wood shop

This is the wood box that Tayler made for me, it was going to be a Mother's day gift but it wasn't done in time so it is an end of the school year gift :) He did a very good job, I think he really enjoyed working with wood, must be in his blood.

Jackie's graduation day!!!!

Our darling Jacqueline graduated from Forest Grove High School today. It only took her 6,800,000 steps to accomplish this feat.

Jacqueline Kimberly Young: Forest Grove High School Honors Diploma (3.5 gpa and above, 4 AP classes, College Entrance Requirements) , National Honor Society Blue & Gold Cord, Oregon Honors Diploma (top 10% of class of 400+), attending Brigham Young University Idaho.



We are proud of her for making the goal of graduating with honors, and accomplishing her goal.
Way to go Jacqueline!

Rocky the Pocket Gopher killer

Today we found a pocket gopher hill in the back yard lawn, so we decided to see if Rocky's instincts would kick in and he would try to dig it out. We thought is was a mole, but it is definitely a pocket gopher.

His badger like claws are good for something!



He was very intense. The cowardly rat terrier found some courage!




Now that he has discovered that he likes to dig, he will probably dig up the whole back yard.

Nails by El Spazo (aka George)

Hope and Emma were painting their nails and wanted to have fun designs on them. They were having a tough time so who do they ask for help? Their Dad ;) There is a reason he has 3 girls I guess :) It was so much fun I decided I wanted mine done, Emma is blue, Hope is purple and I'm red. Disclaimer: George only decorated the girls nails, he doesn't want credit for the painting the skin ;) We like to say nails by George (said with a french accent), he likes El Spazo.

Slug

Sunday I was very unorganized so for dinner we had a salad and garlic bread, but George didn't think that was enough so he sauteed some udon noodles with some cabbage. I was quite happy with this arrangement and all the lettuce and spinach came from our garden, I gobbled up my salad and was eating some udon noodles (they look like fat worms), and this one noodle looked very different and was funny colored and small. I look closer and realize it's a slug!! GROSS!! Needless to say I was done eating and trying to keep down everything I had already eaten! I guess I will be inspecting the produce my children pick from now on and make sure it is all washed thoroughly :)

Born to run

I just read the book Born to run (the picture isn't working so you will have to look it up on your own). I will say it was interesting, way way to much swearing in it though, so consider yourself warned. What did I learn from this book.

A: I run wrong obviously or I could do it injury free
B: I eat the wrong things
C: You have to love to run to really enjoy it
D: I don't love running
E: I will never be an ultra runner, and after reading this book I really don't want to, but it sounds good to think about running and loving it.

Seriously it brought up some good points, if we all ran like our ancestors, on dirt paths and barefoot, and had to run or die, we would be better at it ;) I think I'm going to walk around barefoot more, see if I can strengthen my feet. According to this book shoes weaken our feet. Kind of like those belts that people used to use all the time to help with lower back pain until they found out it actually weakens back muscles. The same goes for shoes. So running barefoot is good, just have to do it on dirt not asphalt, after you have strengthened your poor little feet that is.

Jackie's Prom

Jackie went to Prom last night. She was so lucky the weather was gorgeous!
