Grandma and Grandpa Young

June 4th, 2014
Today is THE day! I was heading on a hike with my sister when Jackie called me and said maybe I shouldn't. I zoomed to her house as fast as I could and when I got there she was progressing :)  We waited for about an hour or so and then she decided she wanted to have it confirmed that she really truly was in labor. We got there and they watched her for about an hour and ran a test. Sure enough it was real :)
Jackie feeling good with an epidural :)

They checked her around 12:30 or so and did a "practice" push. Then all the rushing around started.  The Doctor came and Jackie was ready. He was born at 1:13.  Jackie did such an amazing job.
It was such an honor and a privilege to see Dallin be born.  To witness the miracle of life from a Grandmas point of view, I really don't have words for it.

Tyler and Jackie are going to be such amazing parents.  They are so sweet to each other and with each other, Dallin is definitely a lucky little guy. He is very very loved.
George was so excited to be there that he pretty much jumped on the first flight he could get on.  He flew in around 8 and we hurried back to the hospital.

It really is true!  There is nothing like being a Grandparent :)

Pregnancy photo shoot

One of the things that Jackie and I both love is Pregnancy photo shoots. So we decided to give it a try. I am a total amateur and I know it but I sure had fun. If I had any photo shop skills imagine how much better these could look.  My sister Noreen came and spent time with us. It was fun to spend time together.

This is my favorite :)  Jackie is so  photogenic :)

Utah Baby!

Jackie called me around the 23rd of  May and told me she had had contractions all night the night before. I really really wanted to be in Utah for the birth so I packed up my stuff and headed out.  This is her still pregnant after I had been in Utah for a week and some.  I ended up being in Utah for two weeks before she really went into labor.  We spent our time getting together with family and doing all the last minute things that have to be done before a baby can be born :)

Rhododendrons

Another adventure my friend Julie has been trying to get me to do was to go to the Rhododendron Garden in Portland.  I kind of avoid trips to Portland because it is a confusing city and sometimes my gps doesn't work there. So this was an adventure :)
It is a little park that surrounds a pond or small lake. The Rhododendrons are huge! They are supposed to be a bush but here they were trees. Very beautiful and worth the craziness of driving into Portland :)

Prom

April 19th Emma went to Mormon Prom. Our Stake does a Mormon Prom so that kids can go and have fun without all the stuff that goes along with most Proms. Preston Harris asked her out.  He has been a family friend for years so I have to admit I was taken back a little when I found out he likes my Emma.  Oh well, he can be friends with Tayler and still like Emma :)

They had dinner with a group of friends before the dance and  a good friend took pictures of them all.  It really turned out to be a great night.  They had a good time :)

This is my favorite picture :)  So much personality :)

Tulip Festival

My good friend Julie Woodward has been trying to get me to go to the Tulip Festival for years.  This year the weather was supposed to be perfect and I didn't have anything else going on so I was able to go. It really was pretty. Fields full of Tulips, it was very pretty. Kind of a fun thing to do :)

Spring Break 2014

Jackie came to visit over spring break. We decided to throw her a Baby Shower :)  She got so many cute things, and had a good time visiting with friends from church and school.
Surprisingly it was rainy while she was here.  So we planned as many activities as we could without getting drenched :)  We went to Powell Books in Portland.  That place is huge!  I really think I could get lost there. Literally lost not just lost in a book lol. Rooms and rooms full of books and multiple floors and levels ....it is huge!  Kind of fun though.  While we were there we decided to look for food, but trying to find parking in Portland that is close to anything is kind of hard and like I said it was rainy, and on this day pouring down rain, so we walked next door to a restaurant called Henry's on 12 I think.  It was yummy!  I would go back for sure :)

On our way home we went to Pittock Mansion.  It was better than I remember. I think they added a bunch of information and things like that to make it more interesting.

It was just so nice to have Jackie come visit.  I loved feeling the baby kick and move, when he would anyway :)  We always love family time :)
